Course Description:
The Protective Detail Specialist course has been specifically designed to meet the needs of Security Professionals wishing to enter into the world of Executive and Celebrity Close Protection. We focus on the prevention of a threat, evaluating the threat and performing the actual protective Detail. The class begins with an Introduction to Protective Details to include Licensing and what it takes to be a Protective Detail Specialist. Through the course of the week, you will learn about movements (Mounted and Dismounted), Vulnerability Assessments, Threat Assessments, Site Surveys, Advances, Attack on Principle drills, Terrorism, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Identifying explosives. At the end of the course you will have completed an advance on a venue as well as performed a protective detail with a principle. Upon successful completion of the final exam and a satisfactory completion of all practical exercises, you will have earned the right to use the letters PDS after your name certifying you as a Protective Detail Specialist validating you as a Trained Professional in the Industry. Graduation from the course also entitles you to membership into The Raven Society, an esteemed Alumni Association that will keep PDS Graduates in touch with each other keeping each other updated on current events in the Industry. PDS Graduates will also receive a specially designed Lapel pin identifying you as a graduate of the course.
Course Requirements
Clean Criminal Record (No Felony convictions or records of Domestic Violence)
Dress Code:
Business casual for the course, and a Business Suit with a modestly colored shirt and Tie for the Protective Detail Exercise
Receive Credit for prior work Experience in EP/PSD.
LOTC is awarding the PDS Certification for a limited time to those who qualify by meeting the following requirements:
Applicant must have three years of verifiable EP/PSD experience. Overseas High Threat Protection will be considered on a case by case basis depending on contract but traditional Executive Protection should comprise some of the experience submitted. Applicant will also have to list three character references you have worked with in the past on Protective Details.
Interested applicants should email there resume with a cover letter describing all Protective Experience dictated on the resume. Make sure all contact information is listed for past employers for verification. Email addresses are a suitable means of contact for your three character references.
Once your information is received, it will be reviewed by the LOTC Director of Training for approval or denial. If you are approved you will be requested to pay the $350 fee which entitles you a Certificate awarding the PDS designation, Membership to the Raven Society, and the distinctive PDS Lapel Pin.
